Getting started

What do I need to start?

An Android phone and a Google account. Install MedCounter from Google Play, sign in with Google, and fill in your shop details. There is nothing to approve and no sales call. You are billing within minutes.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. MedCounter is on Android first, because that is what most Indian pharmacies use. If you are on an iPhone, use the web dashboard at app.medcounter.in in any browser. It does everything the app does, including billing.

Do I have to type my whole stock in by hand?

No. Photograph your distributor's bill and MedCounter reads it, matches each line against a catalogue of over 2,50,000 medicines, and fills in names, packs and prices. You review the list and confirm. You can also add items one at a time, or scan a barcode.

Does it work without internet?

No. MedCounter needs a working internet connection, because your data syncs between your phone, the web dashboard, and any staff devices. A normal mobile connection is plenty.

Money

What does it cost?

₹199 a month, or ₹1,999 for a year. One simple plan. No per-bill charges and no setup fee.

Is the trial really free?

Yes. Three months, no card needed. We tell you before it ends. Nothing is charged automatically during the trial.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so you keep access until then. We do not refund part-used periods.

How do I pay?

Through Razorpay, inside the app or the web dashboard. UPI, cards and net banking all work.

At the counter

Will it sell expired stock by mistake?

No. MedCounter always allocates from the batch expiring soonest, and it refuses to put expired stock on a bill. If an item shows stock but will not bill, its batches have expired. The Expiry screen shows what to pull off the shelf.

Can I sell loose tablets, not just full strips?

Yes. Set how many units are in a pack and you can bill single tablets. Stock reduces correctly either way.

Can I send the bill on WhatsApp?

Yes. MedCounter sends a link to the bill rather than a file, so it opens on any phone without downloading anything. You can also print to a thermal printer.

Does it handle GST?

Yes. Bills carry GST at each item's rate, split correctly, and the totals are on your reports. If you are not GST registered, set that in Settings and bills print without it.

What about customers who pay later?

Use Khaata. Record what is owed against a customer, and settle it when they pay.

Staff and data

Can my staff use it without seeing my profits?

Yes. Add staff as cashiers and they can bill without seeing purchase prices or margins. Settings, What cashiers can see, controls exactly what is visible to them, shop by shop.

Can another shop see my data?

No. Every shop's data is isolated at the database level, not just hidden in the app. Your stock, bills and customers are visible only to you and the staff you add.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Export to CSV any time from the web dashboard. It is your data.

How do I delete my data?

Email support@medcounter.in and we will delete it.

Something is wrong

An item shows stock but will not add to a bill.

Its batches have expired, or the stock is sitting in the expired and damaged box. Open the item to see its batches, and check the Expiry screen.

My stock import is stuck or a line was matched to the wrong medicine.

You can correct any line before confirming an import, including searching for the right medicine yourself. If an import sits on the same step for more than a few minutes, message us and we will look at it.

I did not get my OTP.

Wait for the countdown before asking for another one, and check the number has no typo. Network operators sometimes delay messages by a minute or two. If nothing arrives, message us.

Still stuck?

WhatsApp us on +91 89897 91658 or email support@medcounter.in. Tell us your shop name and what you were doing when it went wrong, and a screenshot if you have one. It gets us to the answer much faster.
